Caribbean 1500-ARC Bahamas Pre-departure Program begins in Portsmouth

The World Cruising Club team is now in Portsmouth and ready for the week’s events! The rally office is set up in the marina office. We can see at a lot of rally boats have arrived already and many are on the way, with due to arrive over the weekend and throughout the week.

A few notes from Saturday October 29:
• For those of you in Portsmouth - All skippers, come to the rally office and check in with the rally staff, get your event program and schedule your safety check with us.
• Farmers Market in town every Saturday, 9 am-1pm. High St / Court St, about 10 min walk from the marina.
• Dress your boat with code flags and make the marina look pretty! Walk the docks and get to know your new rally friends!

On the event program today:
• Rally office hours: 10 am – 5 pm (Lunch break 1-2pm).
• Check in at the rally office (during rally office hours).
• 1730-1900 Happy Hour at ‘Still’ Restaurant in Town. Walk out High St and turn right at Court St. ‘Still’ is on the left. Rally participants get two free drinks (house wine/draft beer). Tapas-style small plates available for purchase.

For those of you already in Portsmouth, enjoy the nice day! For those of you on the way down here, have a great sail and we’ll see you shortly!

Entangled humpback whale successfully cut free
The response took several days and involved a broad array of agencies, organizations, and volunteers A humpback whale was entangled in fishing gear in Iliuliuk Bay, near the Port of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Due to the efforts of NOAA, partners, and local trained volunteers, it was successfully cut free.
