Vancouver Club Night – Cruising... Round 2 Bluewater Cruising Association
Barb Peck and Bjarne Hansen quit their jobs and set sail on Freya (30' double-ended Hunter-Vogel) from Victoria to Hawai’i in 2004. They cruised around various places in the South Pacific before sailing back up the Juan de Fuca Strait in 2006.
In 2015, they once again set sail for points south, this time taking a somewhat more traveled path and on a Niagara 35. After spending the winter in the Sea of Cortez, they left Hoku Pa’a on the hard in Guaymas with the intention of returning to the Baja Peninsula when they can next disentangle themselves from work.
The presentation will provide some comparisons between these two trips, with comments about some of the differences and similarities, why some choices were made, and reflections on things they have learned. No doubt they will not be able to resist sharing some of the wonderful sights from the Golfo de California.
Barb and Bjarne will also share some of their experiences from the recent and unfortunate encounter between Hoku Pa’a and Hurricane Newton!
