Coast Guard medevacs ill crewmember from Ro-Ro cargo ship U.S. Coast Guard
The Coast Guard conducted a medevac for an ill crew member Thursday on a roll on-roll off (Ro-Ro) car carrier vessel about 45 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. At about 9 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England received a call from the doctor of the ship Liberty Passion reporting the crewmember was suffering abdominal pains and needed to be transported to the hospital.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod launched and arrived on scene at about 10:45 a.m. They airlifted the ill crewmember off the Liberty Passion and flew him to an airport in Hyannis where awaiting Emergency Medical Services transported him to Cape Cod Hospital.

'Awesome job Coast Guard and thank you very much,' said the captain of the Liberty Passion in a radio transmission to the aircrew.
