Following their ‘keep it simple’ principal, MSY has created a 70-foot yacht that a family can sail by themselves, yet is also perfect when manned by a small crew. Due to its modern lines and lightweight construction, the Y/7 shows great sailing performance. It is fast and easy to control with its twin rudders, self-tacking jib and balanced sail plan. Good speed, even in light winds expands the cruising range. To enhance the range under motor, and for better manoeuvrability, the Y/7 is equipped with a pair of 75hp sail drives.
Accommodation options include a three or four cabin layout, plus crew quarters with their own companionway. To ensure the ‘joy of sailing’ is returned to the owner, the Y/7 incorporates these features:
• Modern lines and lightweight carbon construction
• Twin rudders
• Twin engines
• Sel-tacking jib, and balanced sail plan
• Balanced window size and air conditioning requirement
• Lightweight interior panels to reduce displacement
• Optional lifting keel
The Y/7 is 21.68m LOA, has a beam of 5.75m, draws 3.3m with the fixed keel and 1.9 to 3.6 with the lifting keel, displaces 26 metric tonnes light and has a sail area of 300m2 upwind. MSY are displaying their recently launched Y|8 Brenta 80 SRD at the Cannes boat show from stand QSP016 and QSP136.
