FPB 97-1 Sea Trials Reveal Wicked Performance

Is this the dawn of a new era in performance and efficiency?

Dashew Offshore has just completed analysis of their FPB 97 initial passages and sea trials. This real world performance data, for both propulsion and the large solar array, shows just what is possible in modern yacht design.

The data is derived from an extensive N2K Maretron monitoring system. A few highlights:

• Wide open throttle 14.55 knots from two 300 hp John Deere diesels
• Cruising speed at 75% load over 1200 nautical miles, 11.8 knots at 60 liters/15.8 US gallons per hour
• Top surfing speed to date 19.2 knots
• Average roll .68 degrees with standard deviation of 2.1 degrees
• Solar array average output in moderate conditions 22.8kW per day
