Ocean Safety 2023 - New Identity - LEADERBOARD

Did you miss us?

by John Curnow on 14 Nov 2016

We missed you! No, seriously. We did. However, the really good news is that there is a lot to talk about, as a result. You see we weren’t just plain old lazy, we were busy. Quite busy, should you be interested. And with good reason. Sail-World is committed to bringing you valuable and timely information.

That means you are the ones preparing a good deal of it, and we are very thankful for that. So cheers to you. The practical tips, charming ditties, travelogues and of course pictures are stunning.

Now on that note, we feature two big things this week. First is the news that Mission Ocean will be preparing regular updates for us. These encompass spawn of the original idea, boat sourcing, preparing the craft and then the next three years of research, education and general knowledge building. Laura and Henrique are well qualified to do it all, from both a nautical and business level.

Sail-World is delighted to be part of this grand journey around the planet. Apart from being really nice people, we genuinely believe in their cause. They are committed to their original inspiration and talking with them as they traipse around countless yards looking for the right cat, you know they will succeed in all they attempt.

At this point we are reminded of all that Ian and Annike Thompson with their Plastics in the Pacific have given us over time. In a way, it serves a good reminder for anyone out there wanting to do something to not only dream it up, but also have a go. We will be here to support you and do so with enthusiasm. Please make contact if you want to talk boats, oceans, messages and connections.

Also thrilled that David Thoreson made contact. He has the miles to make him worth listening to, the imagery to keep your eyes wide open, and the drive to get his environmental message across with an earnest energy that is captivating. So please check out our tale about him, his favourite pics and to show he has more than a sense of humour, look out for the journal entry he sent in when I asked for the one that stuck in his mind the most.

Are you out there plying the seas and got something to say? We’d love to hear from you via editor@sail-world.com Also, if you would like to receive our newsletter each week, then please go to the 'Newsletter' button at the top of the Sail-World home page and enter your details. Simple...
