RS's dominate Sunday racing
The third race of the Lymington Town Sailing Club's Early Summer back to back series got off to a fine start in a light 8 knot breeze. Race Officer David Gorringe decided to set an in shore course, using the club's launch as a committee boat.
A short course with multiple rounds was set, leaving open the option to shorten the course when appropriate. The fast fleet was dominated by RS400s, RS500s, RS600s and RS800s with just one 49er entering, which despite storming across the finish line first, was relegated to 9th position after handicaps were taken into account. Tera sailors Robby Boyd and Liam Willis teamed up to race one of the club's RS Visions and held their own throughout the race coming second overall in the first race.
The wind freshened in time for race B which saw a tight fast fleet start. With all boats clear of the line the fleet stayed together up to the gybe mark, before the 49er raised their spinnaker and accelerated at a rate of knots to establish an unassailable lead, crossing the line a good 6 minutes ahead of the rest of the fleet.
