On Sunday 7th September 2003 Arden Sailing Club at Defford Nr Pershore in Worcestershire was hosts to the Comet Western Open Circuit. A total of fifteen visiting boat arrived, from Severn, Chester, Merthyr, Winsford, Naseby and Devon sailing clubs, unfortunately due to varying circumstance non of the host clubs boats were able to take part. The race office Andrew Potts in charge for the first time set three interesting courses of varying lengths in varying wind conditions, at no time grater than force 3.

All races were in started in two flights five minutes apart, only in race one did this seem to give an advantage to any flight. This race saw a close finish with nine boats crossing the line in four seconds, a trying time for the race officials. First Hennery Jagger, Second B Herring (Winsford) third Peter Hayes (Winsford).

Race two was the longest distance all the way to Strensham weir and back four miles in all. The result was first Ian Coppenhall of Hunts in Cambridgeshire, who built up a substantial lead over Pete Hayes in second and Hennery Jagger third.

Race three took the greatest amount of time to complete and with all to play for saw Ian complete his second win with Hennery second and Pete third.

Overall results were first Ian Coppenhall, Second Hennery Jaggers, and Third Peter Hayes. The Ladies prise went to Helen Leivers in fifth and the top junior was P Moon.

Thanks to all the Arden members who helped and to the visitors without whom such an enjoyable day would not have been possible.
