2013 Enel RS:X Youth World Windsurfing Championships opens with the parade of the participating countries

The 2013 Enel RS:X Youth Worlds opened yesterday with the parade of the 17 participating countries and the practice race. This event is hosted by the Lega Navale of Civitavecchia and will go on until October 26th. Racing will start today.

122 competitors, 17 countries, 4 continents. These are the numbers representing 2013 Enel RS:X Youth Worlds Windsurfing Championships, an event dedicated to athletes under 19, which started today at the Lega Navale of Civitavecchia. The practice race took place in the morning with about 15 knots of wind coming from south, without waves and at 6 p.m. all competitors paraded amongst music and colours along the streets of Civitavecchia and arrived at the Town Hall where they where welcomed by Pietro Tidei, Mayor of Civitavecchia.

From Monday everything will be harder for competitors and the first official races will take place. Boys will be the first to compete and they will have to carry out 3 races, divided in two different fleets. Afterwards it will be girl's time and also them will have to make 3 races.

We are very happy to see the partecipations of so many competitors between boys and girls. The wind should not let us down in the next days, so that we hope it will be a great World Championship."

Marco Corti Sport Manager of Lega Navale Italiana of Civitavecchia: "Weather forecast are good for Monday, no great changes with respect to Sunday's situation. On Wednesday a weather front could arrive but we should succeed to finish the program of the first phase in the next two days without great problems."
