After departing Bora Bora almost two weeks ago, the "little fleet" encountered some challenging weather en route to Suwarrow however by the time the fleet arrived, the skies had cleared and Bijou was the first to enter this paradise atoll. Suwarrow forms part of the Cook Islands and was the home of famous castaway Tom Neale, a man who lived as a hermit for 25 years on Suwarrow and author of the book "An island to oneself".

This stopover is a favourite amongst World ARC participants every year with phenomenal snorkelling, abundant wildlife - enormous rays of various colours and sun downers with friends in one of the most remote places in the world. Leaving paradise is always difficult and after 72 hours our fleet continued their adventure of 540 miles to Niue.

Niue, is an amazing island and the largest raised atoll in the world. Her limestone cliffs provide an interesting coastline, with sea caves, chasms, natural pools and spectacular diving spots. On land there is as much to see as in the water but the warmth of the welcome from the islanders touches the heart of all who visit this amazing landscape with a fascinating history. Yesterday evening everyone gathered for an impromptu Indian lunch and Sushi night on land, having cleared Customs and Immigration crews were eager to come ashore to eat out.

The Niue Yacht Club has organised a full programme of activities, starting tonight with welcome drinks at the New Zealand High Commissioners Residence, followed by a sunset BBQ with a gorgeous vista overlooking the World ARC fleet. Tomorrow we all gather together again to determine who is the "Best World ARC mini-golfer" and continue the celebration at a local Fia feast arranged by the residents of Alofi North.
