Colligo Marine spotlight on Tom Francis

by Colligo Marine 26 Mar 2019 15:06 UTC

Here at Colligo Marine we enjoy hearing back from our customers. We love to share their experiences with our products. This month we are shedding light on Tom Francis.

Meet Tom Francis

Thomas Francis is the owner of a 1986 Catalina 36. He mostly sails on the San Francisco Bay and explains that it is a fairly stiff boat and reaches speeds of seven to eight knots.

He got started in the sailing industry by reading up on sailing in magazines and books, and learning how to single handle a boat on his own. He also took a course on sailing, but explains that this experience was not the best.

Why Colligo Marine?

Tom explains that "as a customer, looking into rigging, I wanted something logical as well as having great performance, quality, and safety. Colligo Marine provides that."

He heard about all carbon and synthetic sailing products and how they are lightweight and sustainable. After conducting research online, he found Colligo Marine. Tom went on to explain that this is the future in the industry. Colligo Dux? Synthetic Standing Rigging is the safest standing rigging you can buy. Also, the labor is simple because it is lightweight, and Dyneema is stronger than steel.

For the past nine years, in the San Francisco Bay area, Tom has rigged with Colligo Dux Synthetic Standing Rigging with no issues.

Colligo Marine Products: 1986 Catalina

On Tom Francis' 1986 Catalina, he has Colligo Dux? Synthetic Standing Rigging, top down furler, lifelines, and blocks for controlling sheets. Tom explains that the performance on his boat is dramatically better because it is so lightweight and all of the products last longer than traditional steel hardware.

Seen above are Colligo Marine's lifelines. Below is our shroud tensioners.

"I am surprised that not too many people are using synthetic standing rigging. Colligo Marine is race equipment for a cruise price. High quality hardware with great performance and safety." Tom Francis, Owner of 1986 Catalina
