Introduction to Karver's upgraded 3:1 Friction sheave for use with their KF / KSF furling drums.
It's not often that developments in fitting design deliver a significant increase in quality and a reduction in both weight and price - all at the same time. But Karver Systems appears to have achieved the impossible with the new 3:1 Friction Sheave.
Made from HR stainless steel, the Karver 3:1 Friction sheave provides a flexible solution for the connection of the furling drum to deck. With the option of using it in either a 2:1 or 3:1 configuration this simple, robust design provides excellent luff tension control with trouble-free operation and very little maintenance.
Much lighter than the previous version (33% weight saving for the KF5) and now with a quick release, captive pin mechanism, this is a nice development. It improves the usability of this popular performance addition to the standard furling drum.
