Vanuatu, devastated in early April by severe Cyclone Harold, is in urgent need of supplies and assistance.
Cyclone Harold was a very powerful tropical cyclone which caused widespread destruction in the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and Tonga during April 2020. It hit Vanuatu as a Category 5 storm causing widespread devastation. Relief efforts have been hampered by Coronavirus restrictions throughout the Pacific, and indeed the world.
Some of you may remember the work done by OCC members together with Sea Mercy in 2015 after Cyclone Pam devastated Vanuatu. Sea Mercy is once again heading up relief efforts in Vanuatu after Cyclone Harold. This is a different time with limited vessel movement in the Pacific, but if you find yourselves in a position to help, please contact OCC member Jonathan Robinson, Sea Mercy's disaster relief coordinator in Fiji, or make a donation via their secure website.
