Commander Paul 'Arty' Shaw takes up the new, full-time role of Club Secretary at Hornet Services Sailing Club in early February 2014.

Having recently left the Royal Navy, after 37 years' Service, Arty is well placed to take forward the exciting development plans made possible with the negotiation of a new, long-term lease of land in Gosport and the Club's 220 berth marina. These plans started last spring when the Club's name was changed to add the word 'Services' better to reflect Hornet's commitment to its Service roots.

A revised Constitution makes clear the Club's priority to support Service people from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force in getting afloat from this centre of sailing excellence in Haslar Creek, Portsmouth Harbour. This central role is demonstrated by the recent move of the racing yachts belonging to the 3 Service Sailing Associations to Hornet.

Hornet is delighted that Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal has graciously accepted the role of Royal Patron of the Club and a visit is planned close to the Club's 50th anniversary in spring 2014.
