MP's Liz Saville Roberts and Guto Bebb helped launch Push the Boat Out in North Wales, an initiative aimed at encouraging people to enjoy free opportunities to try sailing.

Roberts went out on the water in Pwllheli, trying dinghy sailing as well as being taken out in a Rib, while Bebb met officials, volunteers and those turning up for the day at Llundudno sailing club.

They were among many people who took advantage of the free offer to try sailing at clubs all round Wales, starting last weekend, with more than 100 taking part at Clywedog alone.

"Push the Boat Out certainly got off to a strong start," said RYA Cymru Wales chief executive Phil Braden, who welcomed Bebb to Llandudno in his role as club commodore.

"To have two of our MP's coming along certainly helped – and we are grateful for them giving up their time to have a look at the sailing clubs – but perhaps more importantly was the number of people of all ages who turned up to try their hand at watersports.

"For many of them it was a first time, but hopefully after experiencing the joy of sailing at first hand and in great weather then it will not be the last.

"Our thanks go also to the many volunteers at clubs across Wales who gave their time and expertise to help other people get out on the water in a safe environment."

Push the Boat Out will run until Sunday May 22nd across Wales, so there are still plenty of free opportunities for anyone to copy the two MP's and take the chance to get out on the water.
