Fort Lauderdale success for Ocean Alexander and Galeon motor yachts

by Alexander Marine Australia 20 Nov 2019 22:13 UTC

Alexander Marine Australia attended the 2019 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, 30 October to 3 November, for the world premiere of the Ocean Alexander 84R, the supremely spacious, family-oriented motor yacht with expansive leisure and social areas on each deck.

Also making its US debut, the award-winning Galeon 680 Fly, which launched at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival in September and took out The World Yachts Trophy for best exterior design.

Its smaller but equally innovative sister, the Galeon 640 Fly will arrive on our shores in 2020, as part of Alexander Marine Australia's line-up of three new Galeon models.

The Galeon 640 Fly won the World Yacht Trophy in 2018 for "Most Innovative Yacht" in the 60-80 feet category, as well as top prize in the Innovative Onboard Design Solution category at METS 2018 for its "brilliantly social layouts with opening forward doors".

At 20.8-metres, the 640 Fly boasts Galeon's unique 'Beach Mode', which extends the vessel with six metre balconies with partially glazed floors and a breakfast bar on both sides.

The foredeck can be transformed into an expansive seating area with a touch of a button for sunbathing or socialising. The vast flybridge boasts plentiful deck space, seating, bar and a carbon hardtop. Thanks to the innovate independent access to the forward and aft accommodation zones, the 640 offers three full beam cabins.

"Once again, Galeon has proven its prowess in the 30 to 78 feet motor yacht segment," said Todd Holzapfel, Dealer Principal at Alexander Marine Australia, which represents Galeon in Australia and New Zealand.

"We were delighted with the response to the first models introduced to the local market this year, the 460 Fly and 510 Skydeck," he continued. "We are sure the new models, led by the amazing Galeon 640 Fly will ignite the imaginations of boaties looking for something 'out of the box' that offers more of everything - space, lifestyle features and literally everything that opens and shuts."

The Galeon 640 Fly will be joined by the 500 Fly and 510 Skydeck, arriving ahead of the 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, 21 to 24 May.

The Ocean Alexander 84R follows in the wake of the first in the Revolution series, the 90R which launched one year prior. Australia will welcome the 84R in early 2020, and can look forward to seeing it first at the 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, followed by the Sydney Boat Show in August.

Todd Holzapfel was among the first to inspect the new model at FLIBS, and he is confident Australian and New Zealand boaties will be impressed with the 84R's contemporary styling and array of unique features.

"It certainly ticks every box when it comes to comfortable family cruising," said Todd. "The 84R offers owners unrivalled space, superyacht-quality amenities, craftsmanship and engineering, as well as many optional extras to customise your vessel.

"As with all Ocean Alexander motor yachts, the 84R is delivered as the complete package, including crockery, cutlery, linen and furnishings. Owners join a worldwide family of passionate boaties and the security of a global network for service and support."

The result of a collaboration between the studios of renowned UK-based designer, Evan K. Marshall, and the Livorno, Italy-based Arrabito Naval Architects, the 84R can accommodate up to eight guests in four staterooms, including a VIP with a full walk-around queen-sized bed, vanity, walk-in robe and a large ensuite. There is also accommodation for up to three crew.

The 25.45-metre vessel features a full-beam skylounge which is one of the largest in its class, aft of which is a generous deck space offering exterior seating, BBQ grill and a Jacuzzi with adjoining sunpads. The open flybridge model is available which offers even more expansive outdoor entertaining space.

Designer Evan K. Marshall said the 84R was created to fill the niche "between the Ocean Alexander 70e and the 90R. The design features of the 84R include open plan design to cater to buyers who are looking for a yacht that offers a relaxed family-oriented layout with the main deck living areas spread out across the entire deck.

"This approach has created a spectacular feeling of space, allowing areas to be distinct yet merging together which has created an expansive open-feeling interior. This is combined, as with the 90R, with an abundance of floor to ceiling windows and glass throughout so that during the day, the main deck will be bathed in sunlight with spectacular views," he said.

Referring to the 84R's exterior profile, Marshall said "The Revolution fleet has a signature look, the sloping fashion-board line and chiselled, modern styling which will continue through to the 110R. We also borrowed some features from the 45 Divergence, to keep the 'family look' throughout the model range."

The interiors of the Ocean Alexander 84R are another unique attribute, combining a mix of materials including satin and high-gloss wood veneers, high-gloss lacquer finishes and Cambria stone flooring and counter surfaces.

"With Australian debuts from both Ocean Alexander and Galeon Yachts in 2020, we look forward to building on the momentum we have created this year," said Todd. "We will have a selection of stock vessels available for immediate delivery."
