Known for its fierce weather and aggressive waves, Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA is home to the Marina at MacMillan Pier. Unprotected from the elements for years, its structures had deteriorated beyond repair when SF Marina USA was called in to supply a state-of-the-art marina system.

The project included nine SF400 Series floating breakwaters to protect the inner marina. Installed by lead contractor ACK Marine & General Contracting, the 180m system is held in place with 18 steel piles. The unique design of the SF400 absorbs and distributes stress when storm loads are placed on it. Built of heavily-reinforced concrete, the systems are used throughout the world.

Nine SF1030 Series 3m-wide concrete pontoons of various sizes were used to rebuild the 76m north and 107m south docks. Provincetown reused its timber fingers that attach to the docks' embedded stainless steel T-tracks. Conduits and pipes for electricity and water are internal and make for a clean appearance and low maintenance. The completed structure supports vessels up to 14m in around 50 slips.

Located on the tip of Cape Cod, the natural deepwater harbor of Provincetown is where the Mayflower first set anchor in 1620. MacMillan Pier supports a mix of recreational and commercial traffic, including a ferry terminal and numerous whale-watching operations.
