Portsmouth boat entrepreneur's £10m mission to kick-start the boating industry

Buyers of any make of brand-new motorboat, RIB or sportsboat, between 6m to 9m long, are being offered 7 months free indoor boat storage at Trafalgar Drystack, with unlimited launches and recoveries, 7 days a week. Worth up to £3095, the offer is available from any UK boat seller before the end of June 2020.

This new initiative is the brainchild of Jonny Boys, MD of The Trafalgar Group based in Portsmouth Harbour, to help the UK marine industry. In 20 years of selling boats, he thought he'd experienced every up and down the marine industry had to offer. Yet despite the Government assistance schemes, with the lockdown hitting at the start of the boating season it has put many boat brokers, dealers and manufactures under a lot of pressure.

With many people considering UK staycations, rather than travelling overseas, boating is an attractive option to have fun on the water, at a safe distance.

"There's no doubt people want to get on the water, judging by the numbers of launches we are doing at the Drystack, where we hit 100 boat launch and retrievals on Spring Bank Holiday," explains Jonny. "Boat sales are starting, although understandably there's some uncertainty. Yet, we know, people want to stay safe and are looking at staycations. Family boating is a great way to enjoy the summer, fuel costs are low too, so having a boat is a fantastic option.

We're excited that this offer of free Drystack space to other boat sellers, which offers no-hassle storage for brand new boat owners, might just help tip the balance for new boat buyers and encourage more people out on the water. If it fills up the recently expanded Drystack, that's £10m boat sales for the UK marine sector too."

The Drystack boat storage space, which is worth up to £3095, extends not just for the summer but for the whole of 2020. The scheme is available to all buyers of brand new RIBs, sportsboats and power boats between 6 and 9 meters in length.

To qualify for the boat storage offer, buyers can register their new boat purchase here before the end of June 2020. The offer is limited and will run on a first come first served basis to all registrants.
