Three races with a good Ora wind started the third event of the Melges World League, hosted at Fraglia Vela Malcesine thanks to the joint organization with Melges Europe.

The first fleet to start racing were the Melges 32s, who found important additions to their teams, including the former World Champions of La Pericolosa and the Corinthian World Champions on Homanit. Tomorrow the Melges 20, represented in Malcesine by over twenty crews, will start racing, and the Melges 14 will sail in the 'Melges Race'.

The winners of the first race of the event were the former World Champions of La Pericolosa (1-2-2) who, led by Christian Schwoerer, then suffered defeat by the twice world champions of Tavatuy (3-1-1), able to recover immediately the disadvantage over La Pericolosa, scoring with two first places in the remaining races. Then Pavel Kuznetsov's crew took command of operations, albeit on equal points with the aforementioned German crew, currently second because no discard has been applied yet.

In third position we find Lasse Petterson's Pippa (2-3-3), three points down on the leading duo, but maintaining an advantage of seven points over the Hungarians of Farfallina (4-6-5) in fourth, in full battle with two Corinthian teams: Heat (5-7-4) of Max Augustin and Homanit (6-4-6) of Maximilian Stein.

The races for the Melges 32 fleet will resume tomorrow at 12.50 pm, followed 10 minutes later by the Melges 20 preparatory signal. There are practice races also for the Melges 14, who will be involved in the 'Melges Race', and then start with the third seasonal act of their Melges World League on Saturday.
