2021 J/24 US National Championship at Malletts Bay Boat Club - Overall

by Julie & Christopher Howell 13 Sep 2021 01:13 UTC 9-12 September 2021

Ten races were completed at the J/24 US National Championship hosted by Malletts Bay Boat Club in Colchester, VT, and all 10 saw great breeze. Mike Marshall with crew Jeff Hayden, Will Welles, Dave Hughes and Matt Coughlin only needed nine of those races to secure the 2021 title.

Including winning four of the first five contests, they attained finishes in the top eight and were able to skip race 10 as their discard for 22 net points. Tony Parker placed second overall with 37 points, and Carter White was third with 51.

Marshall laughed that he was the "worst one on the boat. Will was doing a great job on tactics. We had really clean boat handling from the bow team of Jeff and Matt. Dave and I worked hard on speed. We got ourselves out of a lot of sticky situations by being able to go fast."
