Experienced sailor Jay Thompson, an esteemed participant in the French offshore sailing world, is gearing up for an extraordinary transatlantic record, sailing from New York to Lizard Point, England, aboard his cutting-edge 6.5 meter offshore racing sailboat, Speedy Gonzalez.

This challenging endeavour promises to strengthen the bond between France and America while pushing the boundaries of maritime achievement.

Speedy Gonzalez, meticulously designed for optimum performance and safety, is poised to embark on this audacious journey, equipped with the latest technology.

As perhaps on of the sole American competitors in the esteemed Sailing Valley of La Base, Lorient, France, Jay Thompson's lifelong passion for sailing has driven him to attain remarkable victories and master the art of ocean racing.

Commenting on the upcoming record, Thompson shared his enthusiasm: "Sailing has been an integral part of my life, and this transatlantic voyage is a challenge I have always wanted to achieve. It's a privilege to be the first to set this record in a Mini 6.50."

The official transatlantic route from New York to Lizard Point presents numerous challenges, including unpredictable weather patterns, strong currents, and big seas, making it a true test of skill and endurance for any sailor. However, Jay Thompson's unwavering determination and vast experience make him a perfect contender for this remarkable journey and challenge.

The record attempt has generated considerable excitement within the sailing community and beyond, with fans and fellow sailors eagerly awaiting the outcome. Successfully completing this ambitious crossing will not only solidify Thompson's status as an accomplished sailor but also highlight the valuable exchange of maritime expertise between France and America. This record is overseen and validated by the World Sailing Speed Record Council.

The record attempt is scheduled to commence in and around August 1, 2023, subject to weather conditions. Supporters and enthusiasts can track Jay Thompson's progress through live updates and social media platforms, sharing their encouragement with him every nautical mile of the way.
