On the 30th of October EQ2 was the 1st World ARC yacht to arrive at Le Port in Reunion, berthing just in front of Spirit of Catherine who had been docked here for almost a year and will be joining the World ARC 2019-20 fleet from Reunion onwards.

Once the remaining vessels arrived, 2 vessels at a time were called up to meet the Custom and Immigration officers, the clearances went quickly and smoothly after which everyone rested for the remainder of the afternoon.

In the evening all the participants gathered to enjoy the prize giving, beverages and local dancers at the Welcome Ceremony sponsored by the Tourist Office; Charm for multihulls and Christine for monohulls took home first prize.

During the ceremony, Patricia, the president of Tourist Office and Jerome, the Marina manager received a picture frame signed by all the skippers of the fleet to thank them for their great support and hospitality.

On the 31st of October the participants enjoyed a tour to the volcano; while we drove bumpy and steep roads and walked across a valley, some of the fleet decided to be adventurous, climbing up a mountain which overlooked the scorched out of this world Plato.

Once meeting everyone else at the end of the valley the group went to a restaurant to enjoy a small but exquisite variety of local food choices, and then in the afternoon the last view point of a gorge with a waterfall and village in it, it was a tremendous site to see.

The Halloween party was an experience never to be forgotten, so many characters from pirates to witches, the fleet chose between a few food choices which was much appreciated by the participants after which most of the fleet proceeded to the dance floor to strut their stuff and boogie the night away.
